BULGARIAN FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTER TO VISIT CANADA
Foreign Affairs Minister Bill Graham announced today that the Foreign Affairs Minister of Bulgaria, Solomon Passy, will
be visiting Ottawa from April 24 to 27.
"Canada is looking forward to further enhancing its ties with Bulgaria," said Mr. Graham. "We fully support the country's
recent achievements in economic and institutional reform, which have caught the attention of the Canadian private sector."
The Minister also noted with satisfaction the ongoing security cooperation taking place between the two countries in the
areas of peacekeeping, destroying small arms, and addressing the human impact of anti-personnel mines.
In Ottawa, Mr. Passy will meet with Foreign Affairs Minister Bill Graham, National Defence Minister Art Eggleton,
Canadian Heritage Minister Sheila Copps and Speaker of the House of Commons Peter Milliken. He will also meet with
Canadian business representatives.
Discussions between the two foreign affairs ministers will focus on security-related issues--including Bulgaria's bid to join
NATO, and anti-terrorism efforts--as well as trade and investment, and other bilateral and international issues of mutual
interest.
