MINISTER GRAHAM DISCUSSES MOSCOW HOSTAGE TAKING WITH RUSSIAN
FOREIGN MINISTER
Foreign Affairs Minister Bill Graham today strongly condemned the hostage taking in Moscow as an act of terrorism
against innocent civilians.
"At the APEC Ministers meeting in Los Cabos, Mexico today, I met today with Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and
expressed Canada's sympathy and support for the Russian people in this trying time," said Mr. Graham. "I expressed my
heartfelt hope that Russian authorities will be able to resolve this situation peacefully without any loss of life. We are
deeply concerned about the fate of all of the hostages, including Canadians who are being held by the terrorists."
The Minister said that Canadian officials in Moscow are in direct and continual contact with the Russian authorities, who
have been providing them with regular updates as the situation unfolds. He added that this is a tragic reminder that
terrorism knows no borders and indiscriminately targets the citizens of all nations.
