International Trade Minister Pierre Pettigrew today announced the reappointment of Rayburn D. Doucett to the Board of Directors of Export Development Canada (EDC).

Mr. Doucett was a member of the New Brunswick Legislative Assembly from 1970 to 1995, and served as New Brunswick's Minister of Commerce and Technology and as Minister to the New Brunswick Regional Development Corporation. From 1987 to 1991, he was Chair of the New Brunswick Electric Power Corporation while continuing to operate his own furniture business. Currently he is President of Crosswaters Trade Brokers Ltd., a consulting and marketing firm.

EDC is a Crown corporation that operates as a commercial financial institution. For more than five decades it has provided a full range of trade finance products and services to help Canadian exporters and investors capitalize on opportunities around the globe. In 2001, EDC supported $44 billion in exports and international investments, and served 6,355 customers, of which 5,720 were small and medium-sized businesses and 2,593 were emerging market exporters.
