PETTIGREW - LAUNCH OF CANADA'S STATE OF TRADE REPORT

Media representatives are advised that International Trade Minister Pierre Pettigrew will be the guest speaker at a lunch hosted by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, May 2, in Ottawa. The Minister will be making a speech on the launch of Trade Update 2002: Third Annual Report on Canada's State of Trade, which will be tabled in the House of Commons in the morning. After the speech, Mr. Pettigrew will answer questions from Chamber members followed by questions from the media.

A senior departmental official will also be available to answer technical questions on background if needed.
