Attacks surge despite stringent security measures in Iraq
A car bomb exploded in a Shiite holy city and 13 members of a Shiite family were gunned down Saturday in a surge of attacks killing at least 30 people despite heightened security to curb Iraq's sectarian violence following the bombing of a revered Shiite shrine.Nearly 50 people were reported killed in all.

U.S. envoy meets with Palestinian leaders
A senior U.S. envoy promised on Saturday to continue sending humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people even after a Hamas government is formed, in the first-high level meeting between the two sides since the Islamic militants' surprise election victory.

NWT hopeful Ottawa will share resource revenues
