AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM NOR
THE YEARS CONDEMN.
AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN
AND IN THE MORNING,
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.

    THE VALIANTS MEMORIAL

The Minister of Canadian Heritage announced on 13 August 2003 that a memorial honouring fourteen valiant men and women who gave outstanding wartime service to Canada during the last four centuries will be erected on Confederation Square in Ottawa. The National Capital Commission has been mandated to manage this commemoration on behalf of the Department of Canadian Heritage. Such a memorial was proposed by the Valiants Foundation, who chose the fourteen persons to be thus distinguished.
