![]() Media AdvisoryUnited Nations Day CeremonyMA-05.062 - October 21, 2005 OTTAWA – A United Nations Day ceremony will be held at the National Peacekeeping Monument on October 23, 2005 to honour Canadian peacekeepers – past and present. Memorial Cross Recipient Mrs. Gloria Frazer will lay flowers in memory of fallen peacekeepers. Minister of National Defence Bill Graham will make a short address and will update mission plaques on the Monument wall, thereby officially closing 12 missions. Additionally, plaques representing four new missions will be unveiled. WHEN: Sunday, October 23, 2005 at 14:00 Eastern Time. WHERE: The National Peacekeeping Monument on Sussex Drive, Ottawa. - 30 - Note to editors / news directors : Members of the media planning to attend the event may contact the National Defence Media Liaison Office for more information. On the day of the event, members of the media are asked to liaise directly with the event coordinator and Official Curator of the National Peacekeeping Monument John Gardam (613-224-4814). |
