SECTION 12 – EDUCATION AND RELATED CARE OF DEPENDENT CHILDREN |
10.12.01 – INTENT |
The intent of the allowances and benefits in this
section is to provide financial assistance to
members serving abroad to ensure that their
children obtain primary and secondary education
which approximates Canadian standards and
which enables the child to re-enter the Canadian
school system with as little disruption as
possible.

10.12.02 – ELIGIBLE MEMBERS |
(1) (Eligible members) The following section
applies to a member posted to a place of duty
outside Canada.

(2) (Service couple) Only one member of a
service couple is entitled to claim the allowances
and benefits set out in this section for each
dependant.

10.12.03 – ENTITLEMENT |
(1) (Education of dependent children) A
member to whom this section applies is entitled
to an education allowance, reimbursement for
education travel and an allowance for family
reunion travel in accordance with the terms and
conditions under FSD 34, 35 and 51,
respectively.

(2) (Transportation and parking at the post)
Subject to FSD 30, a member is entitled to an
allowance for the expenses incurred by the
member for:
(a) local return transportation each school
day between the member’s place of
residence at the post and the dependent
child’s place of education, including
transportation of an escort, if required; and
(b) PMV parking each school day at the
place of education of the dependent child, if
required.
