La folie à deux

J'aimerais donner suite à la lettre

du cpl Alain Lanthier intitulée;

Harcèlement;, publiée; dans La

Feuille d'érable; du 17 novembre.

Le phénom;ène; décrit; par le

cpl Lanthier est bien connu en

gestion des ressources hu

maines. On l'appelle la « folie à

deux ».; Ce dérangement; orga

nisationnel consiste à ne jamais

contredire son superviseur,

même; s'il est dans l'erreur ou

l'illégalit;é.; Un subordonné qui

remet en question un tel super-

viseur est perçu; comme une

menace qui doit être; élimin;ée.;

Les FC sont particulièrement;

vulnérables; à ce dérangement;,

car il est beaucoup plus facile de

se cacher derrière; le cliché de

« l'exercice normal du pouvoir »

que d'admettre qu'il y a eu erreur

ou injustice. Pourtant, ce sont des

membres de tous les grades des

FC qui doivent vivre le climat

malsain engendré par la « folie à

deux ».;

Ce n'est là qu'un des dérange;

ments organisationnels qu'on

retrouve dans les FC. Pour offrir

un milieu de travail sain pour

tous, nous devons prendre

conscience de l'existence de

tels dérangements; et prendre les

mesures nécessaires; pour les cor

riger.

Y2K leave for civilians Bogue de l'an 2000 et congé des civils

Civilians will be working closely alongside CF members to ensure DND and CF respond to any requests for assistance during the Year 2000 transition. Civilians deemed "essential" for the Year 2000 transition period should already have been notified by their supervisor or manager if they might be required to work overtime, holidays, shifts or be on call. And, despite everyone's best efforts, leave may be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances relating to Year 2000 problems.

If you have any questions, ask your manager, supervisor, call one of the Service Centres or visit one of www.dnd.ca or www.info2000.gc.ca.

15 Engineer Squadron hosted a goodbye party for children at the Donja Koretica Elementary School in Kosovo. The Engineers spent many hours restoring the burned school and building a playground, and will be missed when they return home at Christmas. Canadian flags were a hot commodity for children wanting a souvenir.

Le 15^e Escadron du génie; était; l'hôte; d'une fête; d'adieu pour les enfants de l'école; primaire Donja Koretica, au Kosovo. I step outside on the hard, cold ground, see lighting strike with thundering sound, I'm thinking of you, I'm always thinking of you.

As I make my way to the morning mess and the wind is blowing against my vest, I'm thinking of you, I'm always thinking of you.

When we leave for work in our ten-ton track and children are waving and we wave back, I'm thinking of you, I'm always thinking of you.

When we're placing trestles on a blown-out school or playing with children and acting the fool, I'm thinking of you, I'm always thinking of you.

When the temperature dips and it looks like snow, we continue to work, and with each hammer blow I'm thinking of you, I'm always thinking of you.

When we're back in our tent, when the work is done, and the men play cards under the setting sun, I'm thinking of you, I'm always thinking of you.

As I crawl into my ice-cold bed the only thought that will warm my head is thinking of you, I'm always thinking of you.

So, it's 2 a.m.; I don't know why but I'm awake, so I step outside and I'm thinking of you, I'm always thinking of you. I decide it's a good time to pray, so I thank God for another day, and I'm thinking of you, I'm always thinking of you.

So, I ask God why I'm thinking of you. I'll tell this story and believe it's true. There's a reason I'm thinking of you, why I'm always thinking of you. You see-I looked up at the starry sky. I counted 'em all till my tongue went dry, then I turned to God and asked Him why I'm always thinking of you.

That's when I thought of God and all He'd made- The wonders of this world, and the life He gave; Of all the creatures, both big and small, The rolling hills and mountains tall, Everything on earth 'n' Heaven above- It was then, my darling, I thought of love. I'm always thinking of you.

What a difference two years makes

Deux années; qui changent bien des choses

The first modern-day issue of The Maple Leaf was produced January 1998. It was flashy, photo-intensive, and included music reviews and a pet column. There was a lot to like about that new publication; at the same time, there was room for improvement.

Our publication has evolved considerably since that first issue. In keeping with readers' wishes, we changed The Maple Leaf 's look and feel. It metamorphosed from an eye-popping, graphicsoriented newsmagazine to a publication closely resembling mainstream newspapers.

The Maple Leaf has become more adept at covering the difficult, sensitive issues that surface within the CF and DND. Our goal: provide timely, professional, balanced news coverage of the issues that affect our readers.

As of January 19, 2000, The Maple Leaf will begin weekly production. Two years ago, we were a monthly publication. September 1998 marked our change to bimonthly production. Since then, we have steadily improved our production cycle to the point where we can now offer our readers a weekly newspaper.

Look for your first weekly copy of The Maple Leaf January 19, 2000 on a newsstand near you.

Le premier numéro; de La Feuille d'érable; nouveau style a ét;é publié en janvier 1998. Il était; un peu tape-à-l;'oeil, bourré de photos et présentait; une rubrique sur la musique et une chronique sur les animaux de compagnie. Son contenu plaisait à bien des égards; mais laissait aussi place à l'amélioration.;

La Feuille d'érable; a fait beau- coup de chemin depuis. À la demande de nos lecteurs, nous en avons modifié la présentation.; Très; visuel et graphique à l'époque;, votre journal ressemble plus aujourd'hui aux journaux grand public.

La Feuille d'érable; traite maintenant davantage de questions de nature délicate; et complexe qui touchent les FC et le MDN. Nous voulons offrir à nos lecteurs une information d'actualité et des renseignements professionnels ayant trait à des sujets qui les touchent.

À compter du 19 janvier 2000, La Feuille d'érable; paraîtra; chaque semaine. Il y a deux ans, il s'agissait d'un mensuel, devenu bimensuel en septembre 1998. Depuis, nous avons amélior;é sans cesse notre cycle de production au point de pouvoir offrir maintenant un hebdomadaire.

Procurez-vous le premier numéro; hebdomadaire de La Feuille d'érable;, en kiosque dès; le 19 janvier 2000.
