Service en famille... Barry et Annette McKay forment un tandem mari et femme au sein de la nouvelle patrouille de rangers canadiens Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug au lac Big Trout dans le nord-ouest de l'Ontario. Là, se trouve une communauté Cree de 1031 membres.

The family that serves together... Barry and Annette McKay comprise a husband- and-wife team within the newly formed Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug Canadian Ranger Patrol at Big Trout Lake in northwestern Ontario. The remote Cree community has a population of 1031.

Desperately 'Sea King' Eagles

Après; avoir remis leurs dépositions; au supérieur; de l'agent de police, les trois membres des FC ont pris leurs correspondances. Le personnel des lignes aériennes; les a fait monter en première; classe pour les remercier de leur aide.

« La journée; avait ét;é vraiment longue, et tout ce que nous voulions, c'était; rentrer à la maison, d'ajouter le sgt Warawa. C'est drôle;, au cours de votre instruction préparatoire; en Bosnie, vous vous exercez à assurer l'aide au pouvoir civil, et c'est finalement sur le chemin du retour que vous le faites. »

La police de Peel envisage de décerner; des mentions élogieuses; aux trois membres des FC.

The 60th anniversary of 423 Maritime  
Helicopter Squadron will be celebrated at 12 Wing Shearwater from May 17 to 19, 2002.

Highlights of the anniversary will include a monster TGIF, memorial luncheon, hangar dance and golf tournament.

We are updating the mailing list that will be used to notify ex-Squadron members about this event. If you are an ex-Eagle, please send us your mailing address and phone number(s) at work and/or home. Indicate whether or not your address may be posted on the anniversary Web site.

Une aide grandement appréci;ée; par un policier

Trois membres des FC qui rentraient chez eux après; avoir passé six mois en Bosnie croyaient avoir terminé leur rôle; d'agent de maintien de la paix quand, à l'aéroport; international Pearson de Toronto, un civil bagarreur les a forcés; à faire respecter la paix une fois de plus.

Le cpl Dwayne Delaney du 1^er Bataillon du Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, le sgt Wayne Visneskie du 408^e Escadron tactique d'hélicopt;ères; et le sgt Bruce Warawa de la 1^re Division aérienne; du Canada étaient;, le 9 mars, assis dans un café de l'aéro-; port en attendant leurs correspondances lorsqu'une bagarre éclata; entre un policier de Peel et un civil. L'agent tentait d'appréhender; l'homme sous une accusation de facultés; affaiblies et pour avoir

tenté d'allumer une cigarette dans la zone réserv;ée; aux non-fumeurs du terminus 2.

« Voyant que la situation s'envenimait entre les deux hommes, j'ai décid;é d'aller voir si le policier avait besoin d'aide », explique le sgt Warawa, alors en uniforme. Quand l'agent m'a dit oui, j'ai empoigné le gars et je l'ai maintenu contre le mur pendant que le policier tentait de lui passer les menottes. »

First-class appreciation for helping police officer

Three CF members returning home after six months in Bosnia thought their peacekeeping duties were over, but a rowdy civilian at Toronto's Pearson International Airport had them enforcing peace once more.

Corporal Dwayne Delaney of 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, Sergeant Wayne Visneskie of 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron and Sgt Bruce Warawa of 1 Canadian Air Division were sitting in a café in the airport waiting for connecting flights March 9 when a ruckus erupted between a Peel police officer and a civilian. The officer was trying to arrest the man on charges of intoxication and attempting to light a cigarette in the smoke-free area of Terminal 2.

"We; noticed things were getting a little heated between the two, so I decided to go and see if the policeman needed help," said Sgt Warawa, who was in uniform at the time. "The; policeman said yes, so I grabbed the guy and held him against the wall while the

policeman tried to put the handcuffs on him."

The suspect continued to struggle. The suspect allegedly lunged at the police officer sometime during the scuffle, knocking off his glasses and tearing his uniform.

Cpl Delaney and Sgt Visneskie soon appeared on the scene. The three of them and the police officer managed to get the man on the ground and the handcuffs on. "He; was a big guy," said Sgt Warawa. "It; took us a while because we weren't trying to hurt him. We just wanted to help the policeman arrest him."

After providing statements to the police officer's superior, the three CF members caught their flights. Airline staff bumped them up to first class in appreciation for their help.

"It; had been a really long day and we were just looking forward to getting home," said Sgt Warawa. "It;'s funny. In your work-up training for Bosnia, you practice aid to civil power and then you end up doing it on your way home."

Peel police are considering commendations for the three CF members.

Appel à tous les techniciens de Sea King

An attempt is being made to organize a reunion of all those technicians who have worked, or are still working, on Sea Kings.

If enough interest is shown, planning will begin for a reunion featuring events such as a "meet; and greet", a dinner and dance, golfing, a tour and a closing luncheon. It is proposed the event take place July 20-22 at 12 Wing Shearwater.
