CFNIS investigating so-called "porn party"

The CF National Investigation Service (CFNIS) is interviewing people who attended a regimental dinner in mid-September which featured a film described as pornographic and a hooded streaker. The dinner marked the retirement of Lieutenant- Colonel Bernard Pelletier, commander of the Fusiliers de Sherbrooke, a Reserve unit.

The incidents occurred just months after General Maurice Baril, the Chief of the Defence Staff, warned that he will not tolerate offensive behaviour and outdated attitudes toward women. About 100 civilians, men and women, attended the dinner. Many of the women in the room and at the head table expressed strong objections over the antics.

LCol Pelletier issued a written apology the next day over the incidents, which included the film projected on a large Canadian flag, the masked streaker and a chorus line of men in balaclavas and G strings. The film was used as part of a skit which included an audio tape roasting the outgoing commander in jest. At one point, a senior officer ordered the film stopped, but its projection resumed later.

The deputy commander of the army in Quebec and the most senior officer present, Brigadier-General Louis-Denis Pelletier, ordered the investigation immediately. Army spokesman Major Marc Rouleau termed the behaviour unacceptable.

"We're taking this very seriously," the major said.

Le film faisait partie du sketch comprenant aussi un « bien-cuit » sur bande audio, à l'intention du commandant sortant. Un officier supérieur; a bien ordonné d'interrompre le film, mais la projection a repris plus tard.

Skyhawk injured in action

Skyhawk blessé en service

Paramedics bring injured Skyhawk, Master Corporal André-Luc; Bisson, into hospital after he plunged to the ground during a jump at the Canadian International Airshow in Toronto, September 6. When MCpl Bisson, who has logged more than 450 jumps, was blown off course by the wind, he slammed into a tree, severely breaking his leg, fracturing his hip and suffering internal bleeding. He has been released from hospital and is now convalescing at his home in Valcartier.

Il a reçu; son congé de l'hôpital; et poursuit maintenant sa convalescence chez lui, à Valcartier.
