1 800 O-Canada - Vision

1 800 O-Canada is committed to serving the public, to encouraging strategic growth and to collaborating across government.

Serving the Public

1 800 O-Canada with other parts of Communication Canada as well as with other Government of Canada organizations. This information will help organizations to gauge public interest in programs, initiatives and campaigns and will enable them to focus their efforts in a way that effectively and efficiently meets the public's needs.

Encouraging Strategic Growth

1 800 O-Canada forecasts increased demands for its services. It is committed to responding to this increase by expanding and developing its already extensive database of information in order to maintain its high level of service to the public.

Interesting Fact1 800 O-Canada anticipates a 20% increase in call volume for fiscal year 2002-2003, bringing the total to more than 1.6 million calls answered.

Collaborating Across Government

1 800 O-Canada will continue to cultivate relationships with other Government of Canada organizations to ensure that the services offered to the public meet or exceed expectations.

The 1 800 O-Canada team will also work with other departments to help them fulfil their obligations under the Government of Canada Communications Policy. The policy provides the framework for organizations to supply the public with information about their contacts, programs and services through
1 800 O-Canada. It also helps ensure that the information distributed through
1 800 O-Canada is accurate, complete and up-to-date.

1 800 O-Canada also plans to continue supporting its partners and collaborating with the Service Canada program. Service Canada provides in-person support to people seeking information on Government of Canada programs and services.
