The Government of Canada Exhibitions Program honoured by Exhibitor magazine
The Government of Canada Exhibitions Program has recently been recognized
for the originality and creativity of its promotional activities. Exhibitor magazine has chosen, from over 70 entries across North America, the "Rally
for National Pride" as one of its 2003 Sizzle Award recipients. Exhibitor magazine is the leading publication in North America dedicated to exhibitions.
Its annual Sizzle Awards "recognize results-driven, red-hot promotions
in the trade show and corporate event industries" in eleven separate categories,
including print advertisements, integrated programs and e-marketing.
The "Rally
for National Pride" was comprised of the sculpting of the "Heart
of Canada" totem pole by Canada Pavilion visitors under the direction
of Haida artist Reg Davidson. As well, it had an educational component presenting
Canadian history and First-Nations culture through storytelling.
More than 175 000 visitors, at 15 Canada Pavilion events, were invited to
sculpt a piece of the 10-metre red cedar pole that would become the "Heart
of Canada."
Thank you to all Canadians for participating in this activity!
