1994 Report of Canada to the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development

Canada's first report to the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (UN CSD) describes past and current activities to implement Agenda 21, which was signed at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992. The report, which was published in 1994, contains information on activities being pursued by Canadians in all orders of government and sectors of society. In accordance with the commission's multi-year work plan, issues covered include the protection and promotion of human health; the promotion of sustainable human settlement development; the protection of the quality and supply of freshwater; and the environmentally sound management of toxic chemicals, hazardous wastes and sewage-related issues, and radioactive wastes.
