1995 Report of Canada to the United Nations Commission on Sustainable DevelopmentCanada's second report to the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (UN CSD) describes past and current activities to implement Agenda 21, which was signed at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992. The report, which was published in 1995, contains information on activities being pursued by Canadians in all orders of government and sectors of society. In accordance with the Commission's multi-year work plan, issues covered include indicators for sustainable development; science for sustainable development; environmentally sound management of biotechnology; conservation of biological diversity; integrated approach to the planning and management of land resources; managing fragile ecosystems; promoting sustainable agriculture and rural development; and measures to manage, conserve, and sustainably develop Canada's forests.
