Help

The Queen's Printer - Freelaw® service (website) and our staff can assist you in finding a publication.  Help features step-by-step instructions to navigate, search, use the purchase feature and take advantage of the Portable Document Format (PDF) documents and their internal search feature. Contact us as shown on the sidebar and at the bottom of this page.

Before you Contact Us!

We need the following information to best assist you:

  • Where you are within the site.
  • If you are looking for a specific document (Have you used the Search or Advanced Search?).
  • What browser and version of browser you are using (i.e. Internet Explorer 5.0 or Netscape 6.1).
  • Your familiarity with the Queen's Printer website.
  • What you are attempting to do (browse, purchase, search, download, etc...).

See a complete listing of the Technical Requirements for this site.

Portable Document Format (PDF)

Queen's Printer uses Portable Document Format (PDF) that requires use of the free Adobe Reader to view and print PDF files for personal use.  You can purchase paper versions of all Freelaw® publications.  All files end in (extension) .pdf.

View, Print and Search Freelaw®

To view a publication, select the "Open Document" button () when it appears.  This opens another browser window, starts the Adobe Reader application, and displays the publication for you to review, print, search and save.

You can print from within the new browser window containing the legislative publication.  Select from the standard menu (i.e. Internet Explorer, choose File, Print) or use the Print Icon ().

Each PDF publication can be searched. Most Freelaw® publications are complete text but some have images from older publications (such as forms and pictures).

Three types of searches are possible:

  • Search Freelaw - searches all Queen's Printer publications for a specific word or phrase
  • Advanced Search - searches Queen's Printer publications based on narrower criteria within Product Types (such as Bills, Separate Chapters, The Saskatchewan Gazette Part I, etc.)
  • Adobe Search - searches only in the document you have open.

Internal File Search - Adobe Reader PDF file

These instructions are for the Adobe Reader Search within a document.

On opening a Freelaw® publication (PDF), search within the publication using the Adobe Reader icons. The Find icon () opens a window in which you can add text then select the Find button.  To continue searching the document, use the Find Again icon ().

Save

Freelaw® service allows you to save the PDF for personal use only; commercial re-distribution is not allowed.  The Saskatchewan Queen's Printer retains Copyright and has Official Versions of legislation.

To save a publication to your computer, select the Save icon ().  In some cases the file name is truncated (a ' ~ ' is added after a certain number of characters, but before the extension).  A saved file will have the extension .pdf.
