Definitions

201.01 - DEFINITIONS AND INTERPRETATION

(1) (Definition) In these instructions, "CBI" means the Compensation and Benefits Instructions for the Canadian Forces.

(2) (Interpretation) The definitions in articles 1.02 (Definitions) and 1.075 (Common-law Partner and Common-law Partnership ) of the QR&O apply in the CBI.

201.02 - USE OF EXAMPLES AND NOTES

(1) (Examples) Where a CBI includes an example of the application of a provision

(a) the example shall not be taken to be exhaustive; and

(b) if the example is inconsistent with the provision, the provision prevails.

(2) (Notes) The notes accompanying CBI are for the guidance of members only and do not in themselves make or modify any provision. However, the guidance so provided should not be deviated from without good reason.

201.03 - USE OF FORMS AND FORMATS

Where a CBI includes a form or recommends a format to be used in the administration of a provision, the form is subordinate to the instruction and the provision in the instruction prevails.
