Consultation - Minor amendments to the Electricity and Gas Inspection Regulations

To View Consultation

Consultation Period Starts on: January 10, 2006 and ends on February 24, 2006

Measurement Canada intends to amend the Electricity and Gas Inspection Regulations and is soliciting comments from interested stakeholders.

The purpose of these minor technical amendments is to ensure that the Regulations contain accurate and up-to-date information. The current Regulations require certain minor clarifications and changes to address some inconsistencies between the French and the English versions, as well as outdated technical vocabulary.

Certain provisions in the current Regulations duplicate clauses prescribed by the Weights and Measures Regulations and others lack the clarity required for proper interpretation. Paragraph 8(2)(c) of the Electricity and Gas Inspection Regulations would be amended to recognize that recalibration periods for some local standards under the said Regulations are addressed in section 56 of the Weights and Measures Regulations. This amendment will consolidate recalibration periods for local standards into a single location and remove the duplication which exists between these two statutes.

Interested stakeholders are invited to review the proposed amendments and provide comments in writing, before the close of business on February 16, 2006:
