The Canadian Patent Office Record goes online!
The Canadian Patent Office Record is
going online! CIPO has undertaken a major redesign of our weekly patent
publication to accommodate additional information and improve service to our
clients. Starting on April 20, 1999, the Canadian Patent Office Record will be
available on the Internet, free of charge. Visit the "Patents" section of
CIPO's home page (http://cipo.gc.ca). The publication will be a downloadable
file in Adobe Acrobat format. Among other features, the Acrobat Reader, which
is available at no cost, allows for searching by keyword.
Starting April 20, 1999, an archive of
weekly Canadian Patent Office Records will be built online for instant
retrieval. Distribution of printed copies to current subscribers will continue
as usual.
Major enhancements to look for
include:
- PCT Information. Bibliographic data on PCT
applications entering the National Phase will be provided. In addition to the
data already provided for Canadian Laid-Open applications, the PCT application
number, publication number and international filing date will be provided.
- WIPO Standards. Some additional data fields
will be provided such as document type code, language code and reissue grant
date. Other data fields including dates and countries will be presented in a
manner consistent with WIPO standards. An explanation of each INID code used
will appear in the Notices Section.
