Promoting Good Public Policy

Sustainable development is dependent on the optimal integration of economic, environmental and social considerations into decision-making. Industry Canada's Environmental Affairs Branch (EAB) is well positioned to influence the integration of these factors in the development of Canada's sustainable public policy.

Situated within an economic department whose primary mandate is to promote the development, growth and competitiveness of Canadian industry, EAB encourages the incorporation of environmental and social considerations into economic policies and programs.

It is equally important to ensure that socio-economic considerations are built into the environmental policies and regulations of and agreements negotiated by the Government of Canada. This ensures that proposed measures and actions are achievable and can be implemented.
