Minor Amendments to the Specifications Relating to Non-automatic Weighing Devices (1998) (SI/2005-85), in PDF format, 117 KB
Amendments have been made to the Specifications Relating to Non-automatic Weighing Devices (1998) as a result of observations made by the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations. The mandate of this joint House of Commons/Senate committee is to review regulations and other statutory instruments and verify whether there are problems with said documents. These amendments are intended to correct previous publication errors and to clarify certain sections.
The following sections were amended and will be included in the official version of the Specifications Relating to Non-automatic Weighing Devices (1998): sections 1(1), 2(2), 14(b)(iii) 30, 31, 33, 55(1) and 62.
The amendments can be grouped according to six minor changes:
1) To group elements within the Interpretation section.
2) To reword subsection 2(2) in order to avoid misinterpretation.
3) To replace subparagraph 14(b)(iii) for better clarity.
4) To replace the French text of sections 30, 31(1)(d), 33 and 55(1)(b) in order to ensure conformity between the French and English versions.
5) To replace the English version of sections 33 and 55(1) in order to ensure conformity between the English and French versions.
6) To replace the heading of section 62 of the English version to comply with the French version.
The official text of the Order Amending the Specifications Relating to Non-automatic Weighing Devices (1998) was published at pages 2224 to 2226 of Part II of the Canada Gazette, volume 139, number 20 on October 5, 2005. It is available on the Canada Gazette and at pages 2 to 4 of the PDF version.
The new amendments will be integrated into the Specifications Relating to Non-automatic Weighing Devices (1998), which is available on the Justice Canada Web site. Please update your documentation accordingly.
