GTEC Award 2002

The Governments of Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia and Ontario have developed, in partnership, the Joint On-line Registration Pilot in order to simplify the filing process for federal corporations who do their filing on-line.

On October 7th, 2002, the Joint On-line Registration Pilot was awarded the bronze medal in the "GROUP IV - National E-Government Awards C - Innovative Cross-Jurisdictional E-Government Projects" category as part of the "Technology in Government Week".

This award recognizes the pilot as being an innovative cross-jurisdictional project which delivers integrated government services to citizens and businesses wherever, however, and whenever they are needed.

The pilot simplifies the registration process for federal corporations that do their filing on-line. Federal corporations in the three partner provinces are now able to:

  • Use a single on-line window to access both federal incorporation and provincial registration forms simultaneously when filing forms electronically.
  • Access on-line forms necessary to complete federal and provincial annual returns.

A formal review of the pilot will be conducted in March 2003, and, depending on the results, the scope of the project could be expanded.
