What Does Incorporation Mean? The act of incorporating means that the cooperative becomes a legal entity. This means that the cooperative has the same rights as a natural person: it can acquire assets, go into debt, enter into contracts, etc. The act of incorporation limits the liability of a cooperative's members: members are generally not liable for a cooperative's debts. Finally, raising capital is easier for incorporated entities than for others. |
