Brown Fir Longhorned Beetle - Callidiellum vilosulum

The Brown Fir Longhorned Beetle (Callidiellum vilosulum) does not exist in Canada but may pose a risk to live trees should it become established here.

This insect is a longhorned beetle (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae) which is native to China. It is a pest of some species of coniferous trees. In China, the beetles infest host trees that are later harvested to produce artificial Christmas trees, which are exported to the United States.
