tube-shaped peridia on the undersides of Malus spp. leaves - American Phytopathological Society Telia are produced on stems, green shoots and leaves of Juniperus spp. in the spring. In moist conditions these germinate where they are, and produce basidiospores which are dispersed and can infect available Malus spp. Basidiospores which infect Malus spp. produce pycnia on the upper surfaces of the leaves, from late spring to early summer. As the season progresses, aeciospores are produced in tube-shaped peridia on the undersides of Malus spp. leaves
