Canadian Food Inspection Agency IMPORT SERVICE CENTRES (ISC)Do you know about the CFIA Import Service Centres? As part of its commitment to improving service for clients, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, in cooperation with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), has established three regional Import Service Centres (ISC): Eastern Region - served from Montreal; Central Region - served from Toronto; and Western Region - served from Vancouver. What is a CFIA Import Service Centre?Import Service Centres process import request documentation/data sent electronically or by fax by the importing community across Canada. Staff review the information and return the decision either electronically to Canada Border Services Agency, which then relays it to the client, or by fax directly to the broker/importer, who then submits the release package to CBSA. In addition, ISC staff handle telephone inquiries regarding import requirements for all commodities regulated by the CFIA and, when necessary, coordinate inspections for import shipments. How may clients contact an Import Service Centre?
How may clients obtain additional information?Additional information on ISC is available at your local CFIA or Canada Border Services Agency office, or on our website at the following address: www.inspection.gc.ca
