The Commission is an independent agency, created by Parliament, to ensure that complaints made by the public about the conduct of members of the RCMP are examined fairly and impartially.

The Commission is not part of the RCMP.

Commission reports make findings and recommendations aimed at correcting and preventing recurring policing problems.

The Commission's goal is to promote excellence in policing through accountability.
