Welcome to Our Website

Canadian Association of Police Boards (CAPB) is the only national organization dedicated to excellence in police governance in Canada. Since 1989, CAPB has worked diligently to achieve the highest standards as the national voice of civilian oversight of municipal police. We have grown to represent more than 75 municipal police boards and commissions across Canada that together employ in excess of 35,000 police personnel - approximately three-quarters of the municipal police personnel in Canada.

Members of municipal police boards and commissions are locally elected officials and citizen representatives who play a valuable role in their communities. As a non-profit association, the CAPB relies on the support of its members, partners and others who value the importance of effective policing and police governance.
CAPB’s strategy for future growth and development includes enhancing services to our members. One of our goals is to become the credible and leading national voice advocating for civilian police governance in Canada. We will do that by enhancing and improving the capacity for and effectiveness of the policy and research services delivered by the CAPB.

We are currently updating our site. In the future, we will offer a current information exchange, educational resources and updates on legislation and advocacy. We hope you will come back often to check our newest updates.
