The Legal Services Section provides legal services to all departments and agencies of the Provincial Government.

Law Enforcement



WHAT WE DO


Under agreement with the Federal Government, the RCMP act as the Provincial Police Force. The force provides police protection in all areas of the Province except Charlottetown, Summerside, Kensington, St. Eleanors and Borden-Carleton which have their own municipal police forces.

Family Law Section



WHAT WE DO


The Family Law Section is responsible for the planning, administration and delivery of the following programs and services: Child Support Guidelines Office, Maintenance Enforcement Program, Administrative Recalculation Office, Family Court Counsellors' Office and the Parent Education Program.

Legal Aid



WHAT WE DO


This program has eight full-time staff lawyers. They provide representation in family and criminal law to clients who, for financial reasons, would be unable to obtain essential legal services from the private sector. The program is cost-shared by the federal government.
