Sustainable Communities Initiative

Launched in 2000 as a five year program, the Sustainable Communities Initiate (SCI) has met and exceeded its original objectives, launching 109 projects while partnering with over 250 rural, remote, and Aboriginal communities across Canada. These communities are now utilizing modern mapping technologies, creating and using digital maps to sustainably manage their futures.

The Sustainable Communities Initiate has now ceased its operations. Some of its capacity-building activities will now be undertaken by the GeoConnections program.

Please watch for possible funding opportunities on the GeoConnections Web site.

We thank you for your interest in the SCI program, and we wish to acknowledge the contributions of the many communities that helped make SCI such a compelling success.
