1993 Survey Of Household Energy Use - National Results
View as: PDF

The objective of the Survey of Household Energy Use (SHEU) is to provide detailed information about energy consumption habits in Canadian households, as well as conditions or factors which affect energy use, with the emphasis on energy-consuming appliances and equipment, characteristics and state of the dwelling and profiles of consumers, including consumption habits. The goals of this initiative are to examine the sources of existing data, to evaluate data needs and to develop data-collecting strategies in each energy-consumption sector. This statistical report presents the major national results of the survey.

Commercial and Institutional Building Energy Use Survey 2000 (CIBEUS)
View as: HTML PDF

The main objective of this survey was to collect energy intensity data for the commercial/institutional buildings in Canada, including building, occupancy and energy efficiency characteristics. The survey provides representative results on the number of buildings, the total square footage, the total energy use and the energy intensity for a target population, namely all buildings with an area of at least 93 square metres (1,000 square feet), of which 50 percent or more is devoted to commercial or institutional activities, located in Census Metropolitan Areas (CMAs) or Census Agglomerations (Cas) with populations of 175,000 or greater (populations of 50,000 or greater in the Atlantic provinces).

Energy Consumption of Major Household Appliances Shipped in Canada - Trends for 1990-2003, December 2005
View as: HTML PDF

This report details the results of the analysis on the estimated shipment-weighted average unit energy consumption, in kilowatt hours per year, of the six major household appliance categories shipped in Canada (i.e. refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, electric ranges, clothes washers and electric clothes dryers) between 1990 and 2003. It also provides data on the annual distribution of shipments by unit-energy consumption range for the six types of appliances during the same period. The data are collected through the co-operation of the Canadian Appliance Manufacturers Association (CAMA).

Energy Efficiency Trends In Canada 1990 To 2003, June 2005
View as: HTML PDF

This report addresses the complicated question of what impact energy efficiency is having in Canada. It provides an analysis of the impact of energy efficiency on secondary energy use - the energy that Canadians use to heat and cool their homes and workplaces and to operate their appliances, vehicles and factories - and on the generation of electricity.

National Private Vehicle Use Survey - October 1994 to September 1996 - Summary report| October 2000
View as: HTML PDF

The National Private Vehicle Use Survey (NaPVUS) measured factors that affected fuel consumption and the distance driven by members of Canadian households for personal reasons. The data included the characteristics of the private motor vehicle fleet, general patterns of use of private vehicles within the household, patterns of use by drivers for a specific vehicle within the household, factors that influence vehicle purchase decisions and current vehicle maintenance behaviour. NaPVUS will enable the OEE and other interested parties to monitor and assess trends in fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions from the personal use of vehicles by Canadian households.
