Model National Energy Code for Buildings (MNECB) for IBIP

Funding for new industrial facilities from the Industrial Building Incentive Program (IBIP) is based on requirements set out in the Model National Energy Code for Buildings (MNECB). A proposed design must meet the mandatory requirements in the MNECB and be at least 15 percent more energy efficient when compared with a reference design as defined by the MNECB. Note that to apply for IBIP funding, process improvements should represent an additional 10 percent in savings, but these figures are not reflected in the MNECB. Please consult the IBIP Technical Guide for details.

The MNECB was developed by Canada's National Research Council (NRC)This link opens a new window. and sets minimum energy efficiency standards for new building construction in Canada.

Find out more by downloading Introduction to the MNECB. You can purchase a complete copy of the MNECB from the NRCThis link opens a new window. by calling 1-800-672-7990.
