Customers must provide proof that their old appliances have been sent to the Yellowknife landfill for recycling. Landlords are allowed to apply for appliances installed in rental units. Newmarket Hydro Ltd.This link opens a new window. is offering a number of programs (limited time offers) to help their residential customers reduce energy consumption and save money. The Newmarket Hydro Ltd. Conserve campaign combines public education with practical tools as well as financial incentives to make it easier for consumers to invest in their own conservation efforts includes a $150 rebate to upgrade their furnace to a high efficiency ENERGY STAR qualified furnace and a $100 rebate on the purchase an ENERGY STAR qualified refrigerator or a ENERGY STAR qualified front-loading clothes washer.

The PST rebate for qualifying energy-efficient household appliances was converted to a point-of-sale tax exemption effective April 1, 2005. Appliances eligible for the PST rebate are ENERGY STAR qualified refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers and clothes washers. The tax exemption applies to the sale or long-term lease (rentals for a continuous period of at least one year) of a new qualifying appliance. Combined clothes washer/dryer units are eligible for an exemption of 60% of the PST payable when the unit is sold for a single price. Used appliances are not eligible. The Province of SaskatchewanThis link opens a new window. offers a Provincial sales tax exemption on the purchase of ENERGY STAR qualified household furnaces and boilers. For the period beginning November 8, 2005 until March 31, 2007, ENERGY STAR qualified energy-efficient forced-air furnaces and boilers that are normally used for residential purposes, are exempt from PST if purchased or leased for a continuous period of one year or more. A qualifying furnace or boiler does not need to be installed in a residence in order to be eligible for the tax exemption. The exemption does not include heating distribution systems such as ductwork used to circulate air in a house or thermostats. Enbridge Gas is offering all residential and small commercial customers a $200 on-bill credit for upgrading their existing heating system to an ENERGY STAR qualified high efficiency forced air furnace or boiler heating system high efficiency natural gas. heating system from September 1, 2005 to March 30, 2006. for more information, visit their web site.

Enbridge Gas Distribution is offering home-heating customers a new ENERGY STAR qualified programmable thermostat to homeowners who complete an EnerGuide for Houses evaluation with participating EnerGuide for Houses service organizations. To qualify, homeowners must perform energy upgrades recommended by their evaluator, complete a post-retrofit "B" evaluation, and be eligible for an EnerGuide for Houses federal grant.

Terasen Gas is offering residential customer incentives throughout the Terasen Gas Vancouver Island service area for changing existing heating systems to high efficiency natural gas furnaces and boilers as follows:

  • $300 rebate for converting an existing heating system to a natural gas system
  • $300 for converting to an ENERGY STAR® qualified furnace or boiler
  • $400 for converting an existing water heater to natural gas.

The Energy Efficiency FundThis link opens a new window. will offer owners of residences supplied by Gaz Metro for heating purposes a $5 per square feet rebate with the purchase of high energy efficiency ENERGY STAR windows and sliding doors, up to maximum of $500. The Energy Efficiency Fund offers a $50 rebate when Gaz Métro clients using natural gas for home heating participate in the EnerGuide for houses service. Once upgrades of the houses (insulation, caulking,...) are completed after the EnerGuide for houses analysis, Gaz Métro clients can also qualify for an additional grant from the Energy Efficiency Fund, of $1 per cubic metre of natural gas saved.

Home Energy Retrofit Grants. Under the EnerGuide for Houses Retrofit Incentive, the Government of Canada provides grants to qualified homeowners who undertake retrofit work to improve their home's energy efficiency. Homeowners must first have an EnerGuide for Houses evaluation performed on their home before they start their renovations.
