Plant Health Division

The Plant Health Division is responsible for the design of national plant protection programs, standards, policies, regulations and initiatives to prevent the importation spread and exportation of pests that threaten Canada’s plant life and the agricultural and forestry sector; for managing risks through the control or eradication of those pests; for the phytosanitary certification of plants and plant products for domestic and international trade; for the certification of seed potatoes; for the resolution of market access issues for Canadian agricultural and forestry products; for the issuance of import permits and plant protection import permit control and enforcement issues. The Division also represents the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and government at domestic and international fora on plant protection issues.
