IBIP SoftwareThese free software tools can help you apply for the Industrial Building Incentive Program (IBIP). Please note that training and workshops are available for only some of these tools. Screening ToolThe Screening Tool can be used to help determine if your new building design qualifies for IBIP. Originally created for the Commercial Building Incentive Program, it estimates your annual energy use and cost savings by comparing the design with a reference building that meets the requirements of the Model National Energy Code for Buildings (MNECB). As part of IBIP requirements, the new building design must be at least 15 percent more energy efficient than the reference building in order to qualify for IBIP. When using the Screening Tool for industrial building, choose "warehouse" as the building type. EE4EE4 is the verification software tool that is used to evaluate whether the design is at least 15 percent better than the MNECB requirement. Use the IBIP Technical Guide to learn how to save at least 10 percent compared with typical processes, which is one of the IBIP requirements. The newest version of EE4 (v.1.50) was released October 29, 2004. EE4 users can now start submitting applications to IBIP with this new version. Please note that the EE4 Modelling Guide of version 1.50 will be issued shortly. IBIP submissions modelled in version 1.40 were accepted until December 6, 2004. For more information concerning the changes in version 1.50, please visit the EE4 Web site. To meet the other IBIP requirement, please consult the IBIP Technical Guide. This guide explains details about the additional 10 percent in energy savings for process improvements. RETScreen®If you are utilizing renewable energy in your building, you can also use RETScreen International Clean Energy Project Analysis Software. This optional tool evaluates energy production, life-cycle costs and greenhouse gas emissions reductions for various renewable energy technologies (RETs). This free software also includes product, cost and weather data, as well as a detailed online user manual. Gigajoule CalculatorUse the Gigajoule Calculator to convert from kilowatt hours and other measurements. If you enter the size of your building, it will also calculate its energy intensity.
