Economic Outlook - September 2006

According to private sector forecasts, Alberta will lead the nation with economic growth of 5.6% in 2006 and 4.2% in 2007. The global economy is expected to see high growth of 5.3% in GDP and of 9.5% in trade volumes in 2006. Sharply lower growth of close to 2.5% in the US, resulting from the housing slowdown, will be the major factor behind a slight decelaration in global economic growth to 4.7% in 2007.
