Youth Reports

Thirteen youth delegates are accompanying the veterans back to France for the 60th Anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, representing the best of the best. The delegates consist of young Cadets, selected by the Director of Cadets for the Canadian Forces, and "civilian" youth, nominated by Encounters with Canada. The selection of youth is based on individual merit, and is designed to represent different regions across Canada. The purpose is to learn more about the Canadian contribution to the Second World War. While overseas, the youth delegates will travel with the veterans to Juno Beach and to the cemeteries, where they will make presentations to their peers about a veteran they have been studying. As they reflect on their experience, their stories and images will be posted on this page. They will share with the veterans in commemorating the past, in order to pass the torch of remembrance on to other youth.
