The lawyers for the plaintiff are David G. Greenaway and Raymond G. Colautti of Paroian, Raphael, Courey Cohen & Houston of Windsor, Ontario and Peter Sengbusch of London, Ontario.

In this class action damages are claimed against the department for failing to invest or pay interest on pensions, compensation, allowances, treatment allowances, bonuses, grants or any other monies which were handled for the veteran by the department.

Further details are contained in the attached notice of class certification and can also be obtained by accessing the website of the representative plaintiff at http://www.veteransinterest.org, the website of the Department of Veterans Affairs at http://www.vac-acc.gc.ca. The notice of class certification attached to this release sets out how class members may contact the representatives of the plaintiff and sets out how persons may "opt out" of the class proceeding. Any person who fits within the class definition as described in the notice of class certification may be bound by any determination of the common issues described in the notice of class certification unless they elect to "opt out" of the action.
