Veterans Affairs Canada will cover the costs of Depleted Uranium testing for released members of the Forces

Released members of the Canadian Forces who would like to request a test and/or more information about Depleted Uranium (DU) should contact their local Veterans Affairs Canada District Office. A Pension Officer will provide clients with information, assistance and referral to one of DND's Post-Deployment Regional Health Clinics for testing. Alternatively, at the choice of the client, referral to a community physician can be made.

Activation Laboratories Ltd., Ancaster, Ontario is the independent laboratory selected to conduct testing for Depleted Uranium. A specialized collection protocol and urine and hair sample collection kits have been developed. Samples will be shipped directly from the DND Post-Deployment clinics, or a referring community physician, to the laboratory.

The total turn-around time from urine submission by the client until test results will take up to four weeks. Results will be sent back to the referring physician. When test results become available, the Post-deployment Clinic and/or community physician will contact the client and arrange an appointment to discuss the results of the testing.

Still serving members should contact DND.
