4.0 Case Management Quality Assurance - Quality Improvement

4.1 Introduction

The Health Services Directorate is undertaking the development and implementation of a Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI) Program for health and client services. The QA/QI Program will be targeted initially on the functions of reception, screening, Area Counsellor assessment, Nursing assessment, OT assessment and care planning. Both client outcomes and performance measures will be addressed. The components of the QA/QI Program will include leadership commitment, goals and objectives, definitions, templates, tools, methodology/process, accountability, and staff education.

The QA/QI Program will be developed within the context of the Quality Management work that was begun in 2000 for Veterans Services Branch. It is expected that the QA/QI Program for the Health Services Directorate will become one of the operational components of the broader Quality Management Program.

Work on the QA/QI Program is underway. As components of the program are completed, they will be added to the VPPM. Completion and implementation of the QA/QI Program for health and client services is targeted for December 1, 2001.
