About Valentines for Vets

Every February 14th we give candy, flowers, and gifts to our loved ones. As an expression of our appreciation for Veterans, many Canadians, especially youth, take the time to make Valentines in support of Valentines for Vets for those Veterans who served our country. Each year, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) invites schools, individuals and organizations from across Canada to craft and design Valentines to send to Veterans in time for Valentines Day.

Valentines for Vets began in 1989 when the late newspaper columnist, Ann Landers, encouraged her readers to create special valentines for Veterans in care facilities throughout Canada and the United States. Veterans Affairs Canada is keeping her legacy alive and this year marks our 10th year of involvement. Last year, the Valentines for Vets campaign brought smiles to the faces of more than 4,000 Veterans. We welcome and encourage all Canadians, young and old, to send Valentine greetings to Canadian Veterans.
