Veterans Affairs Canada: Proudly Serving Canada's Veteran Community
  Issue #3, Spring 2002

Making the Connection

Thanks to a special initiative called the Accessing Health Information Program, Veterans Affairs Canada, the Royal Canadian Legion and Industry Canada have been helping to organize courses across the country that teach veterans and seniors how to use computers and "surf" the Web.

Research shows that computer savvy seniors are more likely to search the Internet for health information which can improve their well-being and ability to make informed care decisions. "Now I know how to access more health information from the Internet so I can talk to my doctor and get more out of my appointments," said a participant.

If you would like more information on this Program, please visit the VAC Web site: click on the Clients section, then Health Promotion. The site also can be accessed through Seniors Canada On-Line

Here are more comments we received:

"I could never have done this had I not taken your course. Thanks for opening up a new world to me!"

"It was nice to meet other seniors and now we have a new way to keep in touch with each other and our families."
