Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation
Fifty outstanding individuals have been chosen to receive the 2002 Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation. The Commendation is awarded to individuals who have contributed to the care and well-being of veterans or to the remembrance of the contributions, sacrifices and achievements of veterans. It can be presented posthumously or, in rare circumstances, awarded to non-veterans.
"I am very pleased to honour this group of outstanding citizens who have dedicated much of their lives to the well-being of veterans and citizens in their communities. They have made their selfless contribution in the same spirit of sacrifice which they demonstrated during wartime and in peacekeeping missions around the world," said the Honourable Dr. Rey D. Pagtakhan, Minister of Veterans Affairs.
As Salute! went to press, recipients of the Commendation were being notified and we'll have more information on these special individuals in future issues.
Nominations for the 2003 Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation are now being accepted. Nomination forms are available on-line at www.vac-acc.gc.ca and at District and Regional Offices of VAC.
