History Comes Alive

George Cole, a veteran of the Second World War, shares memories with some young fans!˙PHOTO CREDIT: Courtesy of Jessica Humphreys, 2003Every veteran has a personal story to tell. Now, a new partnership is giving veterans the chance to ensure their place in Canadian history, while also helping young people learn more about Canada's military heritage.

Veterans Affairs Canada has partnered with the Dominion Institute to expand The Memory Project, a national program that brings students and veterans together in person and over the Internet. Initiated two years ago, the Memory Project has recruited more than 1,200 veterans of the Second World War, Korea, and other global conflicts and peacekeeping missions. Their personal stories have been shared with more than 100,000 young Canadians.

If you are interested in visiting local classrooms or sharing your story in writing for the Internet Archive, please contact the Dominion Institute at 1-866-701-1867 or visit www.thememoryproject.com.
