Stop #5 - Tunnel Junction

Tunnels lead off from each side of the main corridor. These lead to a chain of dug-outs - shelters, ammunition magazines, and latrines - under the main Canadian defensive line which was 150 metres behind Crater Post.

Halfway between the entrance and this point, the so-called Front Line crossed above the tunnel. You passed under it about 20 metres this side of the Water Point. The stairs on the right originally led to the main defence line. There were two more lines of trenches to the rear about 150 metres apart.
