Planning for the Workshops - A Plan of Action
Contents
- Identify the Group
Recruitment of participants for the workshops is a major component in successful planning. Your program will focus on specific groups: 1) spouses, adult children, other relatives or friends providing care to older adults, and 2) older adults themselves who may be in the role of caregiver to a spouse or another family member.
- Distribute Information
The promotional information needs to be well-designed to reach your specific group. Obvious routes would be through such organizations as the Legions, seniors' centres, pharmacies, faith community newsletters, community newspapers, public newsletters and display boards.
- Arrange for Facilities
Take time to attend to details such as seating arrangements and the arrangements for the nutrition break. For example, if you are using a coffee percolator, set everything up before the session so that coffee is ready on time.
- Assemble Materials
Your lists of things to do must include the materials you will need for the workshops.
- Do It!
Facilitators should arrive early (one hour is recommended) to ensure that all is well and to be there to greet early arrivals.
