The Seventh Book of Remembrance
The Government of Canada has announced that a seventh Book of Remembrance will be created to commemorate peacekeepers and others who served in Canada's military and have died in the line of duty since 1947.
The book is being created with the support of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada and the National Council of Veteran Associations of Canada and in consultation with the Canadian Peacekeeping Veterans Association, the Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping and the Department of National Defence.
The book is tentatively titled In the Service of Peace. It is scheduled to be installed in the Memorial Chamber in the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill in November 2004. The existing six Books of Remembrance commemorate, by name, those who died in support of Canada's cause in the First and Second World Wars, in Korea, and in the Nile Expedition/South
African War.
