"I have the right to play"

Minister Ken Dryden invites all Canadians to celebrate National Child Day on Sunday, November 20. This year, National Child Day celebrates the Right to Play.

"When children are playing-whether they are climbing play structures in a park or engaged in organized sports -they are exploring, doing, moving, and learning all limits of things in all kinds of ways that will stay with them through school and throughout their lives. At Social Development Canada, we are working to help Canadian children achieve their full possibilities and for families to have the supports they need to be able to care for and nurture them." said Minister Dryden.

To help you celebrate National Child Day, the Public Health Agency of Canada Government of Canada Site and the Canadian Child Care Federation World Wide Web offer plenty of ideas.

Government activities are coordinated by the Public Health Agency Canada (PHAC) Government of Canada Site. Social Development Canada is working with PHAC and other departments to ensure that families have the supports they need to raise their children.
