Repairs and upgrades to Canada's 13 First World War battlefield memorial sites will include the restoration of masonry walls, stairs and footpaths in public areas. Pilot repairs are currently underway at the Courcelette, Le Quesnel, Gueudecourt and Masnières sites and are expected to be completed by fall 2002. Results obtained at theses sites will be used to determine the best approach to repair work at the remaining sites, which will be addressed in 2003.
