About the Canadian Virtual War Memorial

During the wars and conflicts of the 20th century, more than 116,000 Canadians perished in the defence of peace and freedom. Their names are recorded in the Canadian Virtual War Memorial registry. Each record contains the following information where available:
  • Family Name and Given Name(s)
  • Date of Death and Age
  • Service Number, Unit, Force, Rank and Regiment
  • Citations, Honours and Awards
  • Burial Information (Cemetery name, Location and Plot reference)
  • Additional information
The site also includes direct links to the digital collection of Canada's Books of Remembrance:
  • South African War (1899-1902)
  • The Nile Expedition (1884-1885)
  • First World War (1914-1918)
  • Second World War (1939-1945)
  • Korean War (1950-1953)

Some of the names in the registry are also linked to a digital images collection of photographs and personal memorabilia. You can help build the collection by adding your own family pictures.
